Introduces and discusses conventions in dissertation writing such as structure, contextualization, argumentation, tone, formality, and citation styles. Development of a thesis proposal and honing the project’s methodology is the main function of this course. Offer students an opportunity to continue developing publishable scholarly work that is associated with the dissertation project.
Course Description:
In this course, students develop their dissertation proposals, crafting research questions and honing the project’s methodology, structure, and timeline. As part of that process, students will develop thematic schema for their literature review, which will serve as the foundation for their qualifying exams. This writing workshop will help you understand the genre conventions of the dissertation proposal, structure your writing process, and offer you critique on your work in a writer-centric process.
